Sleep are back, and this is a real new chapter. The riff oracle has announced a 30-date North American tour running from September 8 in San Diego through November 17 in Washington, DC, their first major run behind brand-new music and a restructured lineup. The new era's opening salvo, "Have Spacesuit Will Travel," is Sleep's first new song in eight years, it runs exactly 4:20 (of course it does), and it landed in June 2026 on a flexi disc bundled with the first issue of a Sleep comic book from Third Man Books. One quick but important note before we go further: this is not the classic trio. Al Cisneros remains the constant on bass and vocals, now joined by Dale Crover of the Melvins on drums and Bubba Dupree of Void on guitar. Matt Pike is no longer in the band.

And here is the part we are genuinely stoked about: the tour routes straight through us. Sleep play Levitation 2026 on Sunday, September 13 at RADIO/EAST in Austin, co-billed with Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats.
This is not our first time in the same room. When Sleep leveled our 2016 stage, the lineup was Matt Pike, Al Cisneros, and Jason Roeder, a set that still gets brought up around here whenever the conversation turns to the heaviest things we have ever booked. A decade later, Cisneros is bringing a new configuration of the band back to us, and we could not have scripted a better full-circle moment.
