I first became aware of Candy John on Donovan's 1970 Open Road album, which was itself a departure for Donovan. That album indeed breathed with the spirit and freedom of the open road, and I understand now how Candy John was a great instigator of it's ethos and conception. Since then, his own road has led to many places and spaces - discoveries of the heart and mind.
