Released in 1970, Funkadelic's self-titled debut is a head-on collision of psychedelic rock, gospel, blues and soul, built on distortion, improvisation and a lot of spiritual ambiguity. Eddie Hazel, Billy Bass Nelson, Tawl Ross, Tiki Fulwood and Mickey Atkins turned a Motown-adjacent backing band into something genuinely dangerous, and the whole Westbound run starts right here.

This pressing is fully analog, cut direct from tape to lathe by Dave Gardner at DSG Mastering, from original master tapes that Gardner and restoration specialist Catherine Vericolli archived at 54 Sound Studios in Ferndale, Michigan with in-house engineer Nick King. Pressed at Furnace Record Pressing.
