If you've been anywhere near the internet in the last two months, you already know. Two masked figures in polka-dotted costumes, locked into one of the most hypnotic performances you've ever witnessed. The band is Angine de Poitrine, a two-piece from the Saguenay region of Quebec. Both of their albums are now available on vinyl and CD via ATO Records, shipping worldwide June 12, 2026.
Klek and Khn de Poitrine have been playing together for over two decades. They build their own microtonal guitars by hand (Klek literally added frets to a guitar with a saw) and have developed a sound that pulls from Middle Eastern music, Indonesian gamelan, Turkish rock, acid techno, disco, and rock. The result doesn't really have a category. Driving drum grooves lock in with intricately layered microtonal guitar lines that just pull you in deeper the longer you listen.
Pitchfork put it well: they "managed to take some of the unsexiest music in history and give it the type of groove that renders it undeniable."
The debut. Six tracks that arrived in June 2024 and quietly became one of the most sought-after records in underground music. "Sherpa" opens with a locked groove that immediately signals something different is happening. "Ababa Hotel" and "Sahardnieh" push into longer, more exploratory territory.
This is the first time Vol. I has been widely available on vinyl outside of Canada, via ATO Records.

Released just last week, Vol. II is denser, sharper, and stranger. The "Poitrine brothers" pushed everything further: tighter dynamics, weirder structures, and a dry sense of humor that only reveals itself if you're paying attention. The recipe still revolves around the same three ingredients: acid techno, disco, and rock.
