Baby Cool, the new project from Nice Biscuit’s co-front woman Grace Cuell, is today beckoning us further into her mystical realm with the brand-new single, the hypnotic folk-psych feast ‘The Sea’. The latest offering is lifted from Baby Cool's debut record 'Earthling on the Road to Self Love', set for release on Friday 10 February 2023 via The Reverberation Appreciation Society / Greenway (US), Virgin Music Australia & Fuzz Club / Bad Vibrations (UK/EU).
A sublime marriage of psychedelic pop/folk with flourishes of country, The Sea is a song written by Cuell during a time of dwindling mental health, and later recorded with Sam Joseph (Family Jordan / King Gizzard) in a picturesque studio shack in the northern rivers of NSW.
"The songs on ‘Earthling On The Road To Self Love’ are deeply sentimental," she continues. "I have a lot I need to sing about to help me make sense of this earthly pod I have been gifted. If in singing these words out loud, I can help others find solace in knowing that we’re all out here flailing about in the cosmos, then it feels good to me."
