13 FROM THE 13TH FLOOR:
13th Floor Elevators - Fire Engine
A ripper from their debut album. This is the band that started it all for us.
The Heard - Exit 9
A Texas Garage Psychedelic gem from 1967. Thank you to Jason Chronis for turning me onto this one, it’s really special and the B-side is an Elevators' cover. I wish that I had this!
Michel Colombier - Psycheasténie
From the film score of “Le Pacha” circa 1968.
Link Wray - Hidden Charms
One of my all time favorite guitarists also had the best voice. He also only had one lung!
Niagara - Kikiriti
Groovy and psychedelic sounds from this Munich supergroup.
The Reactions - In My Grave
More killer garage from Missouri circa 1966. Thanks to Numero Group for releasing lost gems for us to discover.
Jimmy Campbell - (Not) A Penny in My Pocket
A charming track from this talented Liverpool musician. He was also involved with The Kirkbys, the 23rd Turnoff, Rockin’ Horse and more.
Nico Gomez and His Afro Percussion Inc. - Naci Para Bailar
A 1971 classic of Latin Afro funk psych from Belgium. Incredible recording quality here.
Claude Perraudin - Robot
Early electronic psych sounds France.
Public Nuisance - Holy Man
A really special group discovered from lost tapes in a basement. Long story, but this was never released until 1997 due to the Manson murders.
Ash Ra Tempel - Amboss 2
An epic psychedelic jam from Manuel Göttsching & friends.
NEU! - Super
Indeed a super track! NEU!, German for "New!", were a West German krautrock band formed in Düsseldorf in 1971 by Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother following their departure from Kraftwerk.
Leaf Hound - Freelance Fiend
Hard stuff from England. This is the opening track from their 1971 album “Growers of Mushroom.”
Until next time, thanks for listening!
