Jake Garcia of The Black Angels explores the sounds and history of the golden era of 1960s psych and rock & roll in 13 FROM THE 13TH FLOOR. Tune in below! This playlist is updated with 13 new tracks on the 13th of each month.

13 FROM THE 13TH FLOOR:

Can - Moonshake
The first track is a tribute to the legend Damo Suzuki. He was one of a kind and a big inspiration to so many, including me. This is my favorite by him and Can. Thank-you Damo.

Red Krayola - Pink Stainless Tail
One of the most important groups from the Texas psychedelic music scene. They were way ahead of their time in 1966 with their confrontational and experimental approach to sound.

Elia y Elizabeth - Alegria
Colombian sisters Elia and Elizabeth Fleta throwing down some excellent grooves.

Faine Jade - Can’t Let You Go
Raw 60’s garage from New York. My favorite sound !

Neu - Lila Engel (Lilac Angel)
The epitome of Kraut Rock. Their brave and free sound followed none.

The Pech Phinn Thong Band - Bump Lam Plearn
Great psychedelic funk from Thailand. Be sure to check out Sound of Siam Vol.1 & Vol.2 on SoundwayRecords.

Chayns - Night Time
Texas garage from my home town of San Antonio circa 1966.

Joe Meek - Orbit Around The Moon
From “I Hear a New World” circa 1960. The sound reflects his attempt to create a picture in music of what could be up there in outer space.

Diana - Eu Gosta Dele
She’s fuzzed out and wild from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil circa 1970.

A.R. Machines - Cosmic Vibrations
Hypnotic space-rock from ex-The Rattles guitarist/vocalist Achim Reichel. Delay, delay and yet more delay.

Fleetwood Mac - Before The Beginning
The early daze of Fleetwood Mac when Peter Green was in his prime. From “Then Play On”, an incredible record all the way through.

Arzachel - Clean Innocent Fun
Killer psychedelic rock from London circa 1968. The guitar solo is too good!

Kraftwerk Organisation - Milk Rock
Electronic experimentation from Kraftwerk’s earliest work; “Tone Float.”

Until next time, thanks for listening!
