13 FROM THE 13TH FLOOR:
The Fugs - Frenzy
Wild underground garage from New York City circa 1966.
Baris Manço - Trip / To a Fair
Killer Turkish psych garage beat from Istanbul circa 1968.
Brenda Lee - Is It True
A young Jimmy Page supporting the amazing Brenda Lee with his incredible guitar circa 1964.
Marconi Notaro - Made In PB
Lost tapes from 1973 saved from the flooding of Rozenblit Studios in Pernambuco, Brazil.
The Avengers - It's Hard to Hide
A fine example of mid 60’s Garage and Jangle from California.
Love - Dream
My favorite track from their often overlooked masterpiece “Four Sail.”
The Cyrus Erie - Get the Message
“The Who” vibes with more of a pop element from a young Eric Carmen.
Dave Pike Set - Raga Jeeva Swara
A perfect blend of Raga, Psychedelia and Jazz from this groovy outfit circa 1970.
The Aerovons - World of You
Originally from St. Louis, USA; this group set out to record at Abbey Road Studios in London, the recording home of their heroes, The Beatles. This is also a great example of the Mellotron sound.
Apollo's Apaches - Cry Me a Lie
Some excellent garage from Chicago circa 1966. My Favorite!
Art Guy - Where You Wanna Go
More 60’s garage from California circa 1967. Art Guy began this recording project following the disbanding of the surf group The New Dimension.
Erkin Koray - Mesafeler
More Turkish psych at its finest circa 1973.
Spirit - I Got A Line On You
Psychedelic Rock from 1968 featuring Randy California (vocals, guitar) and his stepfather Ed Cassidy on drums. Randy California previously played with Jimi Hendrix as a member of Jimmy James and the Blue Flames in New York City's Greenwich Village. Ed Cassidy who was 20years older than the rest of the group was recognized by his shaved head and his fondness for black attire.
Thanks for listening. See you next time!
