13 FROM THE 13TH FLOOR:
Kaleidoscope - Dive Into Yesterday
Choice British Psychedelia circa 1967, these guys were the epitome of Carnaby Steet.
Rodriguez - Only Good For Conversation
Very sad to lose this legend this month. We are lucky to have his wonderful music to remember him by. Tribute to the king. Special thanks to Matt from Light in the Attic records for helping to bring him out of obscurity.
The Rattles - The Witch
German psychedelic beat music circa 1970.
Morning Dew - No More
Raw American 60’s Garage , my favorite sound.
Them - Square Room
A great raga from this talented Irish outfit. I recently read that Van Morrison requires a “full English” breakfast on his rider.
The Bluestars - Social End Product
Killer garage punk from New Zealand that would make the Sex Pistols blush. This one rips! And way ahead of its time.
Valeria Mongardini - Mujer Americana
My favorite version of American Woman done South American Style
Swamp Rats - I’m Going Home
This NYC band normally has the meanest versions of some of my favorite garage punk songs but this one is an easy going track with a fantastic bass line and groove.
The Easy Beats - Sorry
Australian gold , they inspired a young AC/DC and so many others, including myself. Rhythm guitarist George Young is actually the older brother to Angus and Malcom of AC/DC.
Living Daylights - Up So High
The heavy sound of British Psychedelia circa 1967. The band came together when two groups who were the toast of the Essex town of Harlow joined forces.
Stalk Forrest Group - Donovan’s Monkey
Pre Blue Oyster Cult with a young Buck Darma; one of my favorite guitarists of all time.
Nurt - Morze Ognia
A very talented psychedelic progressive outfit from Poland circa 1970. It was January of 1972 when Nurt, a four-member progressive rock band from Poland, took part in a festival of avant-garde music. The group won a recording session at a professional Studio M-1 at Polish Radio headquarters in Warsaw.
Buffalo Springfield - Expecting To Fly
Dreamy sounds that take you on a wonderful musical journey. This one has that Neil Young magic.
Thanks for listening and see you at Levitation soon! Can’t wait!
