13 FROM THE 13TH FLOOR:
The Spades - We Sell Soul
A young Roky Erickson howling and haunting with his first group The Spades from Austin, Texas circa 1965. The A-side is the original version of “You’re Gonna Miss Me.”
Eire Apparent - Magic Carpet
A group from Northern Ireland that was produced by Jimi Hendrix. We can also hear Hendrix playing guitar on this track.
Los Shakers - Rompan Todo
Wild and breaking it all in Uruguay circa 1966.
Gal Costa - Vou Recomeçar
Gal Costa’s wonderful voice and colorful sounds from Brazi to make you feel good.
The Golden Dawn - My Time
Besides being from Austin and label mates with The 13th Floor Elevators, they were one of the best psychedelic garage bands to come out of Texas.
The Fugs - Slum Goddess
The gritty acid rock sound of NYC circa 1966.
Pink Floyd - Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk
Classic Syd Barrett with early Pink Floyd from 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn'.
Popol Vuh - Steh auf, zieh mich dir nach
The majestic opening track from their album 'Das Hohelied Salomos' circa 1975.
Neal Ford & the Fanatics - I Will Not Be Lonely
Killer 60’s garage-punk that snarls from Houston, Texas.
Brim - Anti GanDJa
Excellent Indonesian psych-funk with killer break beats circa 1972.
Golden Grapes- Please Don't Bother Me Anymore
The psychedelic sound of South Korea featuring Shin Joong Hyun.
Love - The Daily Planet
'Forever Changes' was so far ahead of its time and this is one of my favorite gems from that album.
Guru Guru - Stone In
A very stoned jam from their album 'UFO' circa 1970.
Kaleidoscope - A New Man
One of the rarest psychedelic garage albums ever, the Kaleidoscope album was recorded in the Dominican Republic and released only in Mexico in 1969 as a tiny pressing.
Until next time, thanks for listening!
