13 FROM THE 13TH FLOOR:
The Flower Power - You Make Me Fly
The psychedelic sound of Gulfport, Mississippi circa 1968.
Trio Esperança - Nao Aguento Voce
A group of siblings from Rio de Janeiro created this wonderful magic in 1971. Special thanks to my friend Taraka for showing me this recently.
Red Squares - You Can Be My Baby
A real banger from this British group. Without success in their home country, the band migrated to Denmark around New Year 1965/66 and became teenage idols in the second half of the 1960's in Denmark and Sweden.
Ayalew Mesfin, Black Lion Band - Gedawo
The wonderful rhythms & sounds of Ethiopia. There really is nothing like it.
The Mystic Tide - Frustration
A real rarity of raw 60’s garage psychedelia. They were from Long Island, NY.
Meic Stevens - Rowena
Known as the “Welsh Bob Dylan” and sometimes compared to Syd Barrett, Meic Stevens is a Welsh national treasure. This is the tried and true sound of his very first record 'Outlander'.
The Rising Storm - Bright Lit Blue Skies
A great version of this song that was originally written by The Rockin’ Ramrods. The Rising Storm were from Massachusetts, USA.
Ernest Ranglin - Surfing
A favorite groove from Jamaica that never gets old. Ernest Ranglin was a very fine session guitarist for various labels such as Studio One and Island Records.
The Cobras - Try
Teenage 60’s garage in its finest form. This one’s a heartbreaker from Danville, IL.
Unsettled Society - Rainbows
New York acid punk from the Guersson reissue album '17 Diamond Studded Cadillacs'.
Apple - Buffalo Billycan
From their only album 'An Apple A Day’ and a true gem from the British psychedelic scene.
Love - The Red Telephone
The magic of Arthur Lee from my favorite album 'Forever Changes'.
Embryo Infinity Rebirth - Walls
Far out sounds from Pittsburg, PA circa 1971.
Until next time, thanks for listening!
