Sending a big THANK YOU from The Reverberation Appreciation Society and The Black Angels to everyone who came out to Austin Psych Fest. This has once again been the best year yet and we are incredibly excited about seeing you all again in Austin for the 6th annual festival, which will be held April 26-28, 2013. We’ve got some news and a whole lot of thanks to give below.
Alta Real Pictures & Oswald James (along with a huge team of contributing film crew) and Elevation Reservation captured the festival in audio and video once again this year and are diving into post production to create a new film and live album. We’re very excited to see the results and relive the fest which flew by over the weekend.

Big thanks to all of the bands that played the festival – your music, your art, and people’s love for it – is why this festival exists. A huge thanks to all the fans – you are all amazing, we appreciate your support and the community that you’ve created. Can’t wait to see your smiling faces again soon.
Each and every act was hand picked by The Reverberation Appreciation Society and they all have music for sale and download, not to mention limited edition, and in many cases hand crafted merchandise. Support the art and musical output of these good people and BUY the music.
– Send us your photos and video! We’re compiling a library of content and media from each year and would love to see the fest from your perspective. Post links on our Facebook page or send them via email.
– Send us your suggestions on what we can do to make the festival even better, which bands you want to see at our next event, visual artists you think we should host, etc. Hit us up on Facebook or email!
A big shout out to our sponsors – all of these folks support music and arts in a big way, and gave their time and resources to help make Austin Psych Fest happen this year. Tell ’em we sent you!
El Cosmico is an amazing vintage Airstream boutique hotel set in the Marfa desert. We’re planning a side trip next year out there, more info soon. They’ve sponsored the diffraction glasses to Austin Psych Fest attendees 3 years in a row.
Laced With Romance – A big part of the festival this year was the courtyard between the two venues which functioned as a gathering place, art space and marketplace filled with handpicked vendors curated by Laced With Romance’s Stephanie Villalobos. She has an amazing shop in the South First St shopping district of Austin and a website full of their hand picked treasures. Steph and Laced have been a big part of the festival and our events from day one, and it wouldn’t be the same without their style and spirit.
Real Ale is one of, if not our very favorite, Texas brewery. They’ve been supporters of the fest for 4 years, supplying the artists and venues with their badass brews on tap.
Everyone knows Red Bull, the energy drink giant, and a sponsor of Austin Psych Fest for the past two years. What everyone doesn’t know is all the cool stuff this company does in terms of community outreach, artist development, and reinvesting their profits in creative and eco-minded projects and initiatives.
A new face at the festival this year was Bone Spirits, another Texas born brand that we’re proud to be involved with. Bone Spirits is a new distillery based in Smithville, TX where they concoct high quality spirits from the best ingredients in small batches. Very cool folks, and of course we appreciate their independent, artisan approach and high quality product.
Home Slice is an awesome pizza place on S Congress. It’s really hard to choose a favorite pizza place in Austin, but Home Slice is clearly one of the best and most popular. They also book a killer lineup for their day parties during SXSW. Home Slice provided pizza for artists and festival staff, thanks guys!
Kind Bars provided delicious, healthy snacks to the crew, volunteers and artists. They are tasty and chock full of nuts and fruit that you can actually see. YUM!
Hoboken Pie on Red River is our go-to spot for satisfying our pizza craving when we’re downtown. This year they provided delicious pizza for the artists and staff at both of our festival pre-parties. This was the third year in a row that Hoboken hooked it up! Thanks for everything!
A lot of people contributed to the success of Austin Psych Fest this year and we’d like to try and thank all of them:
Shout out to the Emo’s East and Beauty Ballroom staff for a great experience in two of the best rooms in Austin.
Also, a big thanks to Ad Hoc,Fault and all of the contributing press and media folks for helping us spread the word!
We had a great group of staff, crew and volunteers who worked very hard this year and we’d like to especially thank Laura Wallgren, Nicole Haldeman, Josh Seibert, Abigail Kagan, Johnny Sarkis, Mariah Stevens-Ross, Kyle and the 35 Denton crew… and so many more… we love ya!
Thanks to Aaron Flynn and Laced With Romance for transforming the courtyard into the perfect path between 2 venues.
Special thanks to The Black Angels and their team: Nick Stern, Lauren Pattenaude, Myles Crosby, Brett Orrison and “Pink” Floyd.
Thanks to the film crew that assisted Alta Real Pictures with filming and production this year: Onion Creek Productions, Aaron Brown, Jamie Brown, Rob Seidel, Briana Purser, Andrew Fisher, Estevan Ramirez, Andy Garcia, Miles Burnett, Michael Mayer, Calvin Millar, Caleb Kuntz, Jake Clifford.
Bob Mustachio, Pancho Gomez and crew, Drippy Eye Projections, and the visual artists of the performing bands for creating the visual accompaniment to the music.
Thanks to The Agency Group, Windish, Ground Control, High Road Touring and all the talent agencies and management that make touring for the bands possible, connecting fans and musicians.
Thanks to festival DJs Al Lover (check out Al’s festival mixtapes here – soundcloud), Psychotropic (Sky and Victoria) and Heart and Soul Sound System.
Thanks to anyone we forgot, everyone was a pleasure to work with, cheers to you all!
