The 6th annual festival in 2013 was a year of firsts for Austin Psych Fest. It was the first year for the festival to be held at a completely outdoor venue, it was the first year to have 3 stages of music, the first year to launch the poster series featuring various artists from the US and beyond, and it was the first year to offer camping, among other things. Most importantly, it was the year in which Austin Psych Fest finally found its home. Carson Creek Ranch, located on the Colorado River, is the ideal setting for the festival, and we are excited to know that the search for a venue has finally come to an end. We look forward to many more fantastic years of Austin Psych Fest at Carson Creek Ranch.
“Austin Psych Fest has developed from a 10 band bill of like-minded acts in a small venue, to a 3-day celebration of the finest mind-expanding sounds currently being made.” – Consequence of Sound
“For the first time, the festival was located outdoors with three stages, and it felt like APF became the European style, international music festival it has aspired to be, complete with on-site camping, three stages, plenty of delicious food options and the most prolific lineup in the history of the festival.” -MSN.com
“But one of the coolest things about Psych Fest, this year and in years past, has been the Reverberation Appreciation Society’s erstwhile and largely successful attempts to bring legendary psych bands to the festival, exposing people to lost Texas psych (like the Golden Dawn, who played last year), or giving them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Sky Saxon (who played a few years ago), or Silver Apples, or Os Mutantes.” -Paste
