Jake Garcia of The Black Angels explores the sounds and history of the golden era of 1960s psych and rock & roll in 13 FROM THE 13TH FLOOR!

The Litter - Soul Searchin
A tough song that jangles from 1967. They made an impression as they were the first group in their scene to use lights and strobes for their live stage act.

Cat John’s Children - Smashed Blocked
A wild and theatrical song with a young Marc Bolan (T-Rex) on guitar. They were the precursors of glam and were booted off a tour in 1967 for upstaging The Who!

Dave Berry - This Strange Effect
A hauntingly fantastic song written by Ray Davies of the Kinks and released in 1965 by Dave Berry. It became a hit in the charts.

Rockin’ Ramrods - Bright Lit Blue Skies
An uplifting and unique 60’s garage gem from Boston, Massachusetts circa 1966.

Cabinda Ritmos - Muxima Icole
Incredible music from 1970s Angola. Not much else is known about the group.

The Illusions - City of People
Snarling 60’s garage and jangle! They were from St. Clare, Michigan and this was their only single released in 1966.

We The People - You Are The Color Of Love
A haunted gem from the same Orlando, Florida group that brought us “In The Past” and “You Burn Me Up and Down” circa 1966.

Svensk - Getting Old
Syd Barrett vibes from this Swedish duo. This is the B-side to the Dream Magazine 45 circa 1967.

The Third Power - We, You, I
An absolute scorcher from Detroit, Michigan circa 1968.

The Mystic Tide - Stay Away
Dark and raw psychedelic sounds from this Long Island, NY garage group circa 1966.

Jean Claude Vannier - Je M’appelle
Harpsichord magic with a cool French beat circa 1969 from the genius of Jean Claude Vannier.

Suzanne Ciani - Flowers of Evil
A fascinating and wonderful electronic journey created by Suzanne Ciani circa 1969.

East Of Eden - Northern Hemisphere
Heavy UK swamp sounds from the album Mercator Projected/ released on the Deram label circa 1969.

Thanks for listening and see you here in Austin at Levitation and The 13th Floor for weekend fun.
