In 2014 Austin Psych Fest returned to Carson Creek Ranch, once again bringing a carefully curated selection of acts from around the world.
Reformed noise / drone masters Loop joined 1960s legends The Zombies, along with psych heroes The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Dandy Warhols, The Black Angels. Artists like Panda Bear, Liars, Zombie Zombie, Tobacco and La Femme defined a further expansion of the festival programming into experimental sonic territories, while bands like Kadavar, Graveyard and White Hills shook up the heavier end of the spectrum. The international draw of the festival for both artists and attendees was more apparent than ever this year, and the festival swelled, peaking at 6,000 daily.
The festival, now in its seventh year (and second year at Carson Creek Ranch), stands out among its fellow music fest brethren. It sifts through the corporate sponsors and predictable booking so commonplace with other annual music fests and, instead, focuses on the detail that should matter most: the music.
-Austin Monthly
In the seventh year of the event, Austin Psych Fest has hit its stride. The music festival attracts fans and bands from all over the world. After rotating to a new venue each year since 2008, APF appears to have found a home in Carson Creek Ranch located minutes from Austin-Bergstrom Airport after returning to the location for a second consecutive year. Not only has the festival found a perfect home, the carefully curated roster of acts this year was stellar.
-Examiner
For a small festival in the middle of Texas, the number of foreigners present was a little mind-boggling, but every time I talked to someone who was not American, I received the same refrain about “the amazing lineup.” Could be that popular culture in foreign countries is more forward-thinking than here in the U.S.

Austin Psych Fest gets really cool after sunset. As the shimmering Texas heat fades into twilight, the mind-expanding music and light shows begin to make a certain, surreal kind of sense. In its return to Carson Creek Ranch, festival organizers have found a home that is an especially fitting location for a psychedelic music festival.
