Death Valley Girls – Disaster (Is What We’re After)

I’m loving the crunchy claps on this one. It’s those little additions to tracks that really get me. The horns on the hook too. This is definitely the summer anthem for anyone who wants to throw it all away to self indulgence and recklessness.

Cosmonauts – Seven Sisters

Cosmonauts just keep getting better and better. This being the first single from their new album, I’m stoked to hear what else they got cooking. I lied. I’ve heard the whole record, it’s their best yet. Get ready.

Stephen Malkmus – Come Get Me

Stephen Malkmus is like that reliable old dog that’s had his day, but I’ll be goddamned if he ain’t loyal and by your side every step of the way. Offering up exactly what you’d expect from a life long, faithful companion.

Royal Trux – Purple Audacity #2

Groovy and weird, broken and beautiful. It’s everything I wanted from a new Royal Trux record. The GOATs of the self indulgent and strange.

SASAMI – Not The Time

I love this jam. Stereolab vibes for sure but also something else. Nice, unexpected chord changes really give this track an uplifting feeling. Stoked to hear what she does next.

Cherry Glazer – Self Explained

A really interesting and introspective tune. Ever since Cherry Glazer came out I always thought they had a unique approach to music, especially within the “Burger” world.

Avery Tare – Saturdays (Again)

Why does it sound like every member of Animal Collective just take mushrooms in the Bahamas every weekend? I’m floating away here, y’al (Again).

Pavel Dovgal – Floating Beams

I randomly found this track searching through Spotify. I know nothing about him besides he’s from Russia. But man, talk about 4 minutes of pure, transcendental bliss. This track make me want to make music.

Bruxas – Selva Cosmica

Neo-Exotica from Jacco Gardner and Nic Mauskovic. This track make me feel like snorkeling in an ocean on one of Saturn’s moons.

Goatman – Limelight

How do you make such sun drenched, uplifting music from a part of the planet that has some of the longest winters? You make a mask and start a band called Goat, that’s how.

Actress with The London Contemporary Orchestra – N.E.W.

A beautiful, dreamscape soundtrack. Perfect for slipping into that part of sleep where dreams and reality merge.

Oneohtrix Point Never – Love In The Time Of Lexapro

Depressed hipsters looking for love online start seeing the world as a pixelated wonderland.

Com Truise – Existence Schematic

A lot of epic 80s Sci-Fi was consumed in the making of this track. Tron game strong.

Teeth Of The Sea – I’d Rather, Jack

Dystopian Jazz to pump you up for the battlefields where you’ll be fighting weaponized robots. You’ll surely die, but at least to get to bump this sick track before you go out in a blaze of glory.

Eric Copeland – 321 Contact

Minimal, tortured techno with twisted industrial textures with a touch of tropical frosting from Black Dice’s Eric Copeland.

TOY – Strangulation Day (Cosey Fanni Tutti Remix)

Throbbing Gristle’s Cosey Fanni Tutti get’s a tight hold of Toy’s track, Strangulation Day and chokes it within an inch of it’s God fearing life in an underground Berlin sex club basement.

L.A. WITCH – Heart of Darkness

This track is maybe the most Witchy of all their work. It sounds like the cauldron is brewing deep in an account cave and Baba Yaga is stirring the pot.

The Murlocs – Comfort Zone

Murlocs coming in hot with a mellow, slow burn. A bit of a Elton john vibe and man, I love the way that snare hits.

Relatively Clean Rivers – Journey Through The Valley Of O

Loose yourself in the beauty of how the water cascades off the rocks and into your eyeballs while your toes melt into the silt and a salamander whispers the secrets of the universe into you giant ears only to be forgotten within seconds.

Nick Drake – At The Chime Of A City Clock

How can you not want to cry every time you hear this guy? So much longing and beauty in his songwriting and voice. Nick Drake never gets old. Also, damn those strings and saxophone are so slammin’!

Donovan – Clara Clairvoyant

I met Donovan once, in a small English Inn in the middle of nowhere. I said hello. He looked me up and down and gave me a pound, then was on his way. Fucking amazing.

Syd Barrett – Clowns and Jugglers

I’ve never met Syd Barrett. God Bless that mad genius.

The Tangerine Zoo – Symphonic Psyche

Part of the Bosstown sound along with Ultimate Spinach and others, Tangerine Zoo bring the classic, confused sound of teenagers on acid that can’t play that good but made some really interesting noodling American psych rock.

Ash – Midnight Witch

Amazing, heavy early 70’s hard rock that left behind the hippie ethos for speed and loud Harleys. Big ups to Permanent Records for putting together the Brown Acid Comps documenting all this demented and heavy fuzz.

Ipsissimus – Hold On

A full speed version for the Classic Mod stomper by Rupert’s People. I love the ’69 / ’70 heavy psych. You can feel the shift from the acid soaked utopian dream to something darker and heavier.
